THIS IS A MULTI-MODAL DOCUMENTARY PROJECT THAT AIMS TO CAPTURE THE REVERANCE OF TEXT WITHIN THE BLACK FEMINIST THEORY AND ACROSS THE DIASPORA. SITTERS SELECT OR BRING THEIR MOST SACRED TEXT TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED. IT IS OUR AIM TO COLLECT MOMENTS OF COLLECTIVE MEMORY INCLUDE LOOKING UP FROM YOUR BOOK WHEN READING OR NOTICING SOMEONE READING A FAMILIAR TEXT.

You will be able to browse yes please bookhouse and carespace during welcome in hours. If you don’t have a book to sit with, you can borrow from the lending library or purchase a copy.

ABOUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER: SIERRA KING

Sierra King is a  multidisciplinary artist, archivist and curator living and working in Atlanta,GA.  Her practice of art and archiving act as a call and response to one another by utilizing her family collections of documents, ephemera and history to enter in conversations across the collective Black Memory.  In all of her art making, archiving and curatorial endeavors, the community is her collaborator.
